
Leona Louise Lewis, born 3 April 1985, is an actress an activist, singer and actress who hails from Britain. Her family was raised in the London Borough of Islington and attended the Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis received national recognition when she was awarded the third season of The X Factor 2006 and won a contract worth PS1,000,000 with Syco music. The song she was awarded that was a cover of the song of Kelly Clarkson "A Moment Like This" reached 50,000 downloads in 30 minutes and peaked at the top spot for about four weeks. In February 2007 Lewis signed a five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Lewis kept her momentum going with Spirit, her first studio album. The album was platinum 10x accredited in the UK. Spirit became the fourth album to be sold in the 2000, and it was also among the most-sold UK albums. Spirit is, as per Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album by a female singer. Its lead single "Bleeding Love", which spent seven weeks at in the Top 10 of UK charts, also became the single that was most popular in the year 2007. In the US it was also the top-selling single in 2008 , and Lewis was named the best new Artist by Billboard that same year. In 2009, she dropped her second studio album, Echo as well as recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You" from the movie Avatar. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" in collaboration together with Swedish DJ Avicii, and her debut extended play, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) marked Lewis her the third album of her studio. It's an exciting and fresh musical direction. Lewis draws inspiration from electronic and dubstep music. The singer began recording material to her first Christmas album on the Glassheart Tour, which took place in mid 2013. Christmas with Love was released later in the year, and the album's lead track, "One More Sleep", peaked at number three within the UK. Lewis is who is a British female solo artist, made history by becoming the first British artist to break the top of the list with eight singles. This is more than Olivia Newton John's seven-year record.
